For a Feminist European Union : Current challenges to be addressed during the French Presidency of the Council

This symposium organised by the High Council for Gender Equality in collaboration with French and European associations, will highlight the priority issues for the European Union in the area of gender equality and women’s rights. It will sketch the outlines for a future feminist EU.

The symposium will consist of two round tables :
- The first will explore the theme : “Gender Equality Policies in the European Union : What are the challenges for a feminist EU of the future ?” Participants will discuss three priority issues within the European Union :
o gender equality and economic recovery ;
o sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and Rule of Law ; and
o the fight against sexual and gender-based violence.
- The second round table, entitled “Defining feminist diplomacy for the European Union”, will clarify the meaning and the conditions of implementing European feminist diplomacy as well as specific expectations from European and non-European women activists.
